INNOVIA Automated People Mover System - Frankfurt Main Airport, Germany

Fraport AG's construction of a second terminal in 1990 included the INNOVIA APM 100 automated people mover (APM) system. Moving passengers quickly and comfortably between terminals, the eight-vehicle fleet entered service in 1994. The vehicle design features advanced aesthetics and improved ride quality. An expansion in 1996 allowed for the addition of 10 vehicles and the reconfiguration of Station A to accommodate a future system extension.

Since 1994, Bombardier Transportation has provided full operations and maintenance services for the 3.8-kilometre (2.4-mile) dual-lane system, including the 18-vehicle fleet. Bombardier's complete system operations and maintenance program is carefully designed to optimize system performance levels and ensure that problems are detected and corrected before they impact system availability.
